Our Dentists

Dr. Claude P Dowd, DDS

Our founder, Dr. Claude P. Dowd, graduated from UNC School of Dentistry in 1984, after serving four years in the United States Navy. Prior to dental school he received a bachelor‘s degree in biology. 

Dr. Dowd and his bride of fifty years, Linda, started Dowd Family Dentistry together and both have worked very hard over the years to build it to what it is today. To their delight, their daughter, Dr. Tracy Dowd Johnson, joined the practice in 2008. They are proud parents of four children and five grandchildren, whom they treasure.

Dr. Dowd was born and raised in Fayetteville, NC and is very proud of his hometown. His part-time passion is farming. Each year he grows a large garden so he can give back to the community. Many days you will find fresh vegetables lining the office’s front lawn, gifts for patients and employees to grab on their way home. In Dr. Dowd’s free time, he loves to golf, hunt, travel, and eat at the Rainbow Restaurant. Most afternoons, riding with his grandkids around the farm is his best delight. He is a Past Master of Stedman Lodge #730 and a member of the York Rite. In past years, he’s enjoyed doing missions work in Saint Kitts. Giving and helping others has always been part of his life goals.

Our Dentists

Dr. Tracy Dowd Johnson, DDS

Dr. Tracy Dowd Johnson has been practicing dentistry alongside her father, Dr. Claude Dowd, since 2008. She graduated with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery from UNC Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry. Prior to that, she graduated from Appalachian State University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science. 

She is a member in good standing with the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the International College of Dentists, and the North Carolina Dental Society. She has held the office of President and Delegate for the North Carolina Academy of General Dentistry and District Representative for the North Carolina Dental Society. She routinely serves as a volunteer for the Dental Bus Ministry through Baptists on Mission and the Medical Corp Reserve. 

Dr. Johnson enjoys painting, reading, hiking, and spending time with her son, Samuel, and her nieces and nephews.

She looks forward to practicing and leading the dental team at Dowd Family Dentistry for years to come.

Our Dentists

Dr. Jennifer Murphy, DDS

Dr. Murphy is a member in good standing of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. She is devoted to continuing education to advance her knowledge and skills. Dr. Murphy earned her Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry in 2021. She enjoys working with patients to improve their oral health and subsequently their overall health. 

Dr. Murphy is a born and raised Buckeye and lived in the Colorado Springs area before relocating to the Fayetteville, NC area in the summer of 2021. Dr Murphy enjoys golf, traveling, running, reading, and yoga, and is a registered yoga teacher. Dr. Murphy enjoys spending time with her husband Mark and two rescue dogs Madison and Maizey.
